Chinese Culture Festival Concert Spring 2012         Bellingham, WA  Saturday March 3, 7pm                 Mount Baker Theatre

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon with authentic Chinese music and dance!

This biennial celebration of Chinese culture will highlight the Chinese musical tradition just in time for the Chinese New Years. This performance is an invitation to the community to come and enjoy the diverse array of Chinese culture, from instrumental to operatic to dance, from rural to ceremonial. The performance will feature genres including Chinese symphony, traditional Peking opera and modern Chinese vocal.

 Performers include: The Vancouver BC Chinese Music Orchestra, and guest performers from China and the San Francisco Peking Opera Troupes.

 Special guest performers: Kai Chen, a prominent, overseas Chinese cello performer from Seattle, will perform a Chinese cello concerto and Xudong Gao, a prominent, overseas Chinese pipa and guzheng performer from Vancouver, will perform a pipa concerto, and special guest from Seattle, famous bass Cui Zhongshun will perform a solo.

Featuring authentic Chinese instruments, including jinghu, guzheng, pipa, zhuiqin, Chinese percussion, and more.
